| The Salvation Army is able to work Thanksgiving and Christmas miracles for thousands of needy individuals and families each year through its various holiday programs and services. The Red Kettle Campaign is The Salvation Army’s oldest and most visible Christmas program. The campaign raises funds used year round to help people in need and help operate the three worship and community centers. |
 |
Besides the Red Kettle Campaign, The Salvation Army gives new toys at its toy shops, and it’s well-known program of Christmas Stockings done by companies and service groups in Delaware. We can’t forget the Angel Tree Program (toys and clothes), coat drives, canned food drives for homebound individuals and holiday meals. |

This past holiday season, thousands of families were helped through the Angel Tree Program. Over 3,000 children received new toys and clothes because their “Wish List” was selected from the tree.

HOLIDAY TOY SHOP
Toys. . .toys. . .and more toys were purchased by The Salvation Army for distribution to parents shopping for gifts for their children. Over 7,500 children received new toys. In addition to toys, The Salvation Army distributed 3,000 new coats for children through Operation Warm (coat donation by MBNA)

STOCKING PROGRAM
In addition to new toys, clothes and coats, every child was given a stocking filled with an assortment of age appropriate new gifts. Over 6,000 stockings were filled by companies and individual volunteers.
FOOD VOUCHERS
Every family assisted by The Salvation Army during Thanksgiving and Christmas received a voucher to buy food for their holiday meal. Vouchers ranging from $20 to $100 were distributed according to family size. In addition to vouchers many families and homebound individuals received boxes of canned goods and perishables. Canned food drives in the community and volunteers helped to make this possible. |
